The Future for Tackling Fly-Grazing in England

Context

New regulations laid out in the Control of Horses Act 2015 gave local authorities, land owners and occupiers more power to deal with fly-grazing horses efficiently, quickly and safely. Two years have since passed, yet there is still much more work to be done to tackle fly-grazing in England.

Attend this Westminster Briefing to get an up-to-date brief on the procedures in detaining and disposing of horses in places without lawful authority. This is a chance to hear good practice from around the country and discuss how multiple agencies can best work together to deliver an effective response whilst ensuring the well-being of the horses.

Key Issues to be Addressed:

  • Comprehensive update on the Control of Horses Act: what has been its impact?
  • Lessons from the first two years of implementation
  • Local authorities: using the powers to deal with fly-grazing effectively
  • Land owners and occupiers: working with the police to ensure a swift response
  • Latest good practice case studies in dealing with and responding to fly-grazing
  • Effective multi-agency working between local authorities, police, landowners and others
  • What is the future for tackling fly-grazing in England?
